How It Works

Here's the process step by step, fully transparent.

We're not involved in organizing rides, splitting costs, or planning travel.

We provide you with data, so you know if another student, from your school, is going to or from the airport at the same time as you.

CampusAirportTwo students, two separate ridesTogether: one ride, there and back
  1. Sign up with your school email and enter the 6-digit code we send to it. Only verified .edu addresses from your university get onto your school's board.

  2. Post your ride: starting point, ending point, date, and the earliest and latest you'd leave. Your name and email stay hidden. You save a payment method (Apple Pay works) but pay nothing yet.

  3. Or join a ride that's already on the board. You pay $2 when you join.

  4. The moment a student joins, everyone on the ride gets an email with each other's name and email address. The poster pays their $2 now, not before.

  5. You now have students to split a ride with. Your group independently coordinates a departure location, time, and method.

What you pay

  • $2 to join a ride, charged when you join.
  • $2 to post a ride, charged only when the first student joins it.
  • Nothing if you post a ride and nobody joins.

If plans change

  • Anyone can drop out of a ride. Whoever drops out is not refunded.
  • If two or more students are still on the ride, they keep each other's contact details, get an email that someone dropped, and the ride stays on the board.
  • If everyone else drops and you're the only one left, your $2 is refunded automatically.
  • You can be on one ride per travel day. To switch, leave your current ride first.

Use caution when sharing a ride

You see this every time you post or join. You will be travelling with people you may not know. Tandem verifies a university email address and nothing else, and Tandem and its team are not liable for any action or misconduct between students who are paired.
