What we collect

Your name and university email address when you sign up. The rides you post or join: starting point, ending point, date, time window, seats and bags. A record of each time you accept the safety notice. A record of your payments and refunds. A cookie that keeps you signed in. A log of steps taken on the site, such as opening a page or posting a ride, which we use to find where the site is hard to use. Our hosting provider, Vercel, counts page visits for us without cookies and without identifying you. We do not use advertising trackers.

We never see or store your card number. Payment details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor.

Who sees what

Students at your university can see the rides you post, but not your name or email address. When a student joins a ride, everyone on that ride sees each other's name and email address, on the site and by email. Students at other universities never see your rides.

The Tandem team can see rides, names, email addresses and payment status in order to run the service, answer support requests and handle refunds.

How we use it

To verify that you are a student, show you your school's ride board, connect you with the students on your ride, take and refund payments, and send you emails about your account and your rides. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with advertisers.

Companies that process data for us

Stripe processes payments. Resend delivers our emails. Supabase stores our database. Vercel hosts the site. Each handles your data only to provide its service to us.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your account and ride history while your account is open. To delete your account and the personal information tied to it, email admin@tandemsplit.com from your university address. We may keep payment records where the law requires it.
